On a warm August morning, Will Edwards, AFC Corsham parent and owner of First Step Gym, began an extraordinary challenge. His mission? To take 90,000 steps in 24 hours on the step machine, matching the number of seats at Wembley Stadium, and raising funds for the club’s ambitious new 3G pitch project.
What followed went far beyond the original goal.
Will battled fatigue, pain, and the relentless rhythm of the machine. Hour after hour, he kept moving — fuelled by determination, the encouragement of visitors dropping into the gym, and the knowledge that every step would bring the club closer to a facility that will benefit players and the Corsham community for generations to come.
The final tally: 109,344 steps.
A new unofficial world record, and an incredible £12,630 raised from all avenues of donations.
In Will’s own words:
“I can’t thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. The significant amount of money helps all the fantastic volunteers at AFC Corsham take one more step closer to building a brand new facility that will serve the community of Corsham and beyond for years to come.”
This wasn’t just a test of endurance — it was a display of what happens when passion meets purpose. Will’s effort shows that when we come together as a club and a community, we can achieve extraordinary things.
How You Can Help
The new 3G pitch project is still a major undertaking. We’ve made fantastic progress, but we need everyone’s support to make it a reality. Whether you’re:
• Taking on your own sponsored challenge
• Running a cake sale or raffle
• Making a one-off donation
• Or simply spreading the word
Every contribution matters — big or small.
