A landmark moment for AFC Corsham as new 3G pitch set to become a reality!
Construction of the new full-size 3G pitch at Leafy Lane is expected to begin in the week commencing 19 October 2026 which is a major milestone for AFC Corsham and our local football community.
All pre-commencement planning conditions have now been discharged, allowing the project to move into the development stage. TigerTurf is being mobilised, with completion currently targeted for mid-February 2027.
After years of planning, fundraising and work behind the scenes, it is fantastic to be approaching the moment when those ambitions start to take physical shape.
An investment in our club’s future
The new pitch will be a significant step forward for football at Leafy Lane, providing a more resilient playing surface and helping us deliver more consistent opportunities to train, play and develop throughout the season.
For our youngest players taking their first steps in football, our established youth teams and the volunteers who support them, this is an investment in the future. It will also support our ambition to create more opportunities for girls, women and players with disabilities to enjoy the game.
A collective effort and a special thank you
Projects of this scale only happen through sustained commitment and partnership. We would like to thank Leafy Lane Playing Fields, the Football Foundation, Wiltshire FA, Wiltshire Council and everyone involved in bringing the project through its funding, planning and preparation stages.
A special thank you goes to Andy Simpson, whose dedication, persistence and work coordinating the project have been instrumental in getting us to this point. Much of that effort happens out of sight, but its impact will be enjoyed by players and families for years to come.
We also want to recognise AFC Corsham’s committee members, past and present, alongside our coaches, volunteers, sponsors, supporters and families. Whether you have helped organise an event, contributed to fundraising, supported the planning or simply shown patience as the project progressed, you have helped make this possible.
This is a moment for the whole club to celebrate.
One final fundraising push
There is still work to do. We have £16,100 left to raise towards the fundraising target.
We will be encouraging further fundraising over the coming months to help close that gap. If you know of a business that could support us, a potential grant or funding opportunity, or have an idea for a club fundraiser, please speak to any member of the committee.
Every contribution will help us reach the target.
Access to Leafy Lane during construction
Leafy Lane will be a live building site during the works, with implications for access and movement around the grounds.
We will provide a comprehensive briefing for coaches, parents, players and visiting teams, covering access arrangements and any changes to matchday and training routines. Please follow signage and instructions, keep children away from construction areas and allow extra time when visiting.
The programme remains subject to progress on site, and we will share updates as construction develops.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us reach this milestone. We look forward to watching our new pitch take shape and welcoming our players onto it in 2027.
