Thanks again for all the help setting the pitch up and taking it down, I know we keep saying thanks but it does help us.

Today's game was more difficult than we thought it would be and that was partly because with Stu being the referee he didn't speak to the players and tell them what they should be doing, I tried as much as I could not to say anything because we think the boys need to make a few mistakes and learn from them instead of myself and Stu telling them always. I did say more than I wanted but I think it's a step in the right direction. Plus the positions were moved around a bit because next season players will need to be playing in different positions at times so the boys need to understand how different it is in a new position. Although it doesn't look great at the moment in the future they should benefit from doing it.

The game was slow and scrappy at times with players not thinking and working as a team (maybe for the reasons above) players shooting when a pass was better or passing when running with the ball was better. Thought the 2 players that went in goal did really well to read the game and come off the line to collect the Marshfield long ball threat. I asked the boys to try some new things and I saw some good foot work so that pleased us. Pleased with how the defence tried to play out from the back when they gained possession not always with success but the effort is fantastic and needs to be encouraged. As always there are things to work on but I think the team enjoyed it and that's the main thing. Hope the parents enjoyed watching from a chilly sideline. Hoping for the weather to warm up a bit.

Penalties at the end was done with great fun and laughs between the players which is great to see. Always good to have players asking to go in goal even better when they ask and pull off saves like the keeper did in the penalty shoot out today.

No training monday but a game against Chippenham next weekend. Please have a look at the fixture and say if your son is available for the game. I did say I would bring a camera but a totally forgot until I got to leafy lane so I will try and remember for the next game.
