Tough game

It’s was a disappointing result for the team this week after such a great one last week against Trowbridge. We knew that Trowbridge would be massively up for the game at leafy lane this morning and they were. They were at us start away and caught us sleeping a couple of times. We created some decent chances to score but we didn’t have our finishing boots on this week like we have in previous games but it’s encouraging that we are still making the chances in games. We went in at half time 3-1 down which we probably deserved as we didn’t have the same attitude as the Trowbridge players and gave them a little more time than they should of had.
In the second half we thought we would put them under more pressure but we had a nightmare start to the half conceding again. There were glimpses in the half that showed we could play decent football and attack Trowbridge. We had a period of 10/15 mins were I thought we might bring it back but Trowbridge managed to score at the right times to take the wind out of our sails. The second half was encouraging and hope we can maintain the effort levels for the last game against Derry Hill.

I gave out 3 MOTM this week one for Danny who had a lot to do in today’s game and showed that he can play really nice football at times and didn’t give up trying. The second was for Lucas because he made a couple of mistakes which led to goals for Trowbridge and he was clearly upset but I told him I wanted him in goal for the second half to show he can forget about mistakes and carry on making good saves which he has done all season, he wasn’t pleased about it but I hope that after showing he can make important saves he will learn that mistakes happen and you have to forget about them because everyone makes them unfortunately goalkeepers make mistakes and it usually leads to a goal. I was pleased that he finished the game in goal and seemed to improve as the game went on. The third MOTM was for Charlie I thought the last 15 mins he played were probably his best he has played all season, he was reading the game better and quickly closing down Trowbridge players and played some very good passes out from the back and his effort levels in those last 15 mins were brilliant. The game was great for us but I hope the boys learn from a defeat and think about how they can improve during games in the future.
