Thank You for a Fantastic 2025/26 Season

Thank You for a Fantastic 2025/26 Season

James Edmund

Celebrating our award winners, thanking our departing coaches and volunteers and one week to go until the big raffle draw.

As another memorable season comes to an end, everyone at AFC Corsham would like to thank our players, parents, carers, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, referees and supporters for making 2025/26 such a successful year for the club.

From our youngest players taking their first steps in football to our oldest teams competing across Wiltshire and beyond, the season has once again demonstrated everything that makes AFC Corsham special that community spirit, friendship, development and a shared love of the game.

A Successful Presentation Day

Saturday saw hundreds of players, families and volunteers come together at Leafy Lane for our annual Presentation Day. The event was a wonderful celebration of the achievements, progress and memories created across the season.

A huge thank you goes to the many volunteers who gave up their time to organise, set up and run the day. Events like these only happen because of the commitment of people working behind the scenes and we are incredibly grateful for their efforts in making the day such a success.

Celebrating Our Club Award Winners

Presentation Day also gave us the opportunity to recognise two individuals whose contributions to AFC Corsham have been truly exceptional.

Club Player of the Year – Nancy Silk

Nancy has been an outstanding ambassador for AFC Corsham throughout her journey with the club.

Her achievements both on and off the pitch have been remarkable, including representing Wiltshire and Wiltshire Schools, attracting interest from professional academies and becoming part of Corsham Town history through her FA Cup achievements.

More importantly, Nancy has been a role model for so many younger players within our growing girls’ section and represents everything we want AFC Corsham players to aspire to be.

Congratulations Nancy on a thoroughly deserved award.

Chairman’s Award – Emma Bevan

Emma’s contribution to AFC Corsham is difficult to fully capture in words.

As Club Safeguarding Officer, Emma has played a vital role in ensuring the club remains a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for every player and volunteer. Since taking on the role in 2023, she has led safeguarding improvements, updated key policies, supported families and volunteers, completed DBS checks across the club and helped ensure AFC Corsham continues to meet the highest standards required by The FA.

Alongside her safeguarding responsibilities, Emma has also supported the club as Parent Representative, helped coordinate volunteers for major events and has become the driving force behind the AFC Corsham BBQ, which raises important funds that are reinvested back into the club.

Much of Emma’s work happens quietly behind the scenes, but its impact is felt throughout every part of AFC Corsham. This award is a fitting recognition of her dedication and commitment.

Thank You to Our Coaches and Volunteers

A grassroots football club is only as strong as its volunteers, and once again we have been fortunate to have an incredible group of coaches and helpers giving their time to support our players.

Whether coaching twice a week, preparing pitches, organising fixtures, running teams, fundraising, refereeing or helping at events, your contribution makes a difference to hundreds of young people every week.

We would also like to thank those coaches who have stepped away from the club this season after many years of service: Ian Pike, Chris Sparey, Dan Clarke, Pete Turner, Jim Boore and Dan Straffen. Between them they have coached countless young players, given up hundreds of early mornings and weekends, and helped shape this club into what it is today. We are enormously grateful to each of them, and we wish them all the very best for the future.

Thank You Simon Bray

This season also marks the end of an era as Simon Bray steps away from the club.

Simon has been at the heart of AFC Corsham’s growth and development for many years. Under his leadership the club has expanded significantly, strengthened its governance, grown its girls’ football programme, enhanced facilities, developed stronger links with Corsham Town and helped create opportunities for more young people than ever before.

His passion has always been centred on providing football opportunities for children and creating an environment where friendships, memories and personal development matter just as much as results.

On behalf of everyone connected with AFC Corsham, thank you Simon for your leadership, commitment and countless hours of voluntary service. The club is in a stronger position because of your efforts, and your contribution will be remembered for many years to come.

Looking Ahead

While one season ends, another is already beginning.

We are excited about the future of AFC Corsham, with continued growth across team football, new opportunities for players and coaches and ambitious plans to further improve facilities and the overall experience for our members.

Thank you once again to everyone who has played their part this season.

Have a fantastic summer, and we look forward to seeing you all back at Leafy Lane very soon.
